Ventia has been awarded a contract to support Babcock Australasia (Babcock), deliver upgrades to the Australian Defence Force’s Defence High Frequency Communication System (DHFCS).
The new system, under the JP9101 – Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communications System (EDHFCS) program, is expected to provide Australian and allied armed forces with the ability to securely communicate using voice and data from almost any location across the globe.
The contract is valued at approximately $64 million over five years and commences this month.
Ventia’s scope includes ground works, installation of new antennas and other contractor furnished equipment, along with internal shelter works.
Mark Ralston, Ventia’s Group Executive – Telecommunications said the company was pleased to be working with Babcock on this 'strategically important' Defence project.

Babcock Managing Director Mission and Support Systems, Brad Yelland said he was impressed by Ventia’s capabilities and track record across large-scale telecommunications and Defence projects.

The DHFCS is set for a major capability upgrade under the 10-year program to be delivered by Babcock. The program will see Babcock lead the operation and support of the existing HF capability, while delivering a comprehensive technology upgrade program over the initial 10-year contract period.
