Hanwha Defence Australia’s (HDA) and Elphinstone will partner on the hull production of HDA's Redbacks, as a part of the delivery of the Redback family of Infantry.
“By continuing our relationship with Elphinstone, HDA will be able to synchronise and strengthen delivery of our current programs,” HDA Acting Managing Director Dean Michie said.
HDA and Elphinstone have signed a contract for the manufacture of all 129 vehicle hull structures. This will provide Fighting Vehicles to the Commonwealth of Australia under LAND 400 Phase 3. The work Elphinstone will conduct is valued at approximately $90 million and shall occur at the company’s site in Wynyard, North-West Tasmania,
“We are very excited to enter a second major contract with Hanwha, following the 2022 contract for Huntsman vehicles under LAND 8116 Phase 1,” Mr Ben Sandow, General Manager of Elphinstone said.
This contract will continue the relationship between the two companies. In 2021, HDA and Elphinstone signed the teaming agreement for the manufacture of vehicle hulls for the Redback Infantry Fighting vehicle. The work they have conducted as a part of that agreement centred on hull structure fabrication and machining.
