Sydney Harbour based Sydney City Marine (SCM) has been assessed by the Naval Technical Bureau (NTB) as achieving the requirements of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Maritime Material Requirements (MMR) for Slipping and Docking of ADF vessels.
SCM always recognise the value for Defence to have its maritime capability in a Seaworthy state and achieving this requirement greatly benefits the level of support that SCM provides to Navy.]
The awarding of facility qualification for the docking of ADF vessels was made by CDRE Colin Dagg, CSC, RAN - Director General Engineering – Navy.
“It is great to see and finalise this terrific outcome," CDRE Dagg said. "It shows a level of professionalism and cooperation that will place Navy, CASG and Sydney City Marine in a very good place for the future, I wish Sydney City Marine all the best for the future and thank them for their ongoing support to Navy."
In achieving the requirements SCM joins an elite group of just eight facilities across Australia to achieve this qualification.
“The awarding of this formal qualification demonstrates the highest values of professionalism of our team and our facility and further validates our ability to provide exceptional levels of service and capability to the ADF," Brenton Fischer, SCM Director, said. This qualification means that SCM is uniquely positioned and qualified to provide the highest levels of service to the ADF for vessels up to 800 tonnes and is well placed to extend those support services to contribute to the easing of ongoing docking pressures at Fleet Base East.
