Entries and nominations for the 2020 Australian Museum Eureka Prizes, the country's premier national science award, are open. The deadline for submissions is in three weeks.

The Australian Museum Eureka Prizes honour excellence across the areas of research & innovation, leadership, science engagement, and school science.

Presented annually in partnership with some of the nation's leading scientific institutions, government organisations, universities and corporations, the Eureka Prizes raise the profile of science and science engagement in the community by celebrating outstanding achievement.

The Department of Defence sponsors the Eureka Prize for Outstanding Science in Safeguarding Australia is awarded for outstanding research that has led to, or is likely to lead to, innovative solutions for Australia's national security.

It is worth $10,000.

Previous winners include the Sapphire Clock team from the University of Adelaide, who helped improve the performance of the JORN system.
