Entries for the 2022 Women in Defence Awards are well underway as we look to celebrate talented, determined, successful women who make a positive impact in Defence and industry.

With just under three weeks to go, now is the time to nominate yourself or your colleagues for well-deserved recognition of their personal achievements and their contribution to the wider mission of defence. The nomination form is available here (https://admwomenindefenceawards.com.au/).

Visibility and recognition matter. The mission of the Women in Defence Awards is to inspire young women to pursue careers in Defence, in STEM, or related fields - which they are more likely to do if they see other women in the area. This is also why we are proud to introduce a new category this year for Indigenous women.

Diversity is critical to addressing the workforce shortage dragging on Australia's defence capability ambitions. A workforce that is artificially limited in size will subsequently put artificial limits on defence industry capability.

So if you know a female colleague who deserves recognition, or if you are proud of the contribution you're making in the defence community, we encourage you to fill out the nomination form. Entries will close at 4 pm on 17 May.

This year we are also pleased to return to a face-to-face format for the award ceremony, which will take place at The National Arboretum Canberra at 7pm on 14 September 2022.

We look forward to reading your entries and to continuing to recognise the amazing contribution of women to a flourishing defence sector.
