Established in 1985, its 2400-plus staff’s depth of design, project management, supply chain, construction and engineering experience and expertise is unparalleled in Australia’s defence industry. ASC built the country’s Collins Class submarines, sustains them, is delivering their Life of Type Extension, and has been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines in Australia. ASC also plays a leading role in training Royal Australian Navy submariners.

In March 2024, ASC was selected as Sovereign Submarine Partner for the Australian Government’s nuclear-powered submarine program. ASC will sustain all nuclear-powered submarines in Australia, including visiting US and UK boats, and will jointly build Australia’s SSN-AUKUS fleet in an incorporated Joint Venture with BAE Systems.
