The Queensland Government has held a briefing for industry on the planned Aerospace and Defence Support Centre (ADSC-A) next to RAAF Base Amberley.

"The centre will provide a full range of support services for the ADF, including design, systems integration, upgrades and platform maintenance," Minister for Infrastructure and Planning Stirling Hinchliffe told industry and government representatives.

"Offering office spaces, hangars, workshops, laboratories, and training common user facilities, aviation services firms will be well supported by the centre's range of facilities.

"With its close proximity to the base, the centre offers ample opportunities for organisations seeking contracts to service and maintain the ADF's aircraft, both stationed at Amberley and other ADF bases throughout Australia."

The ADSC-A is scheduled to be open for business at the end of 2012.

The KoBold Group, under an engagement with the Queensland Department of Infrastructure and Planning (DIP), is developing an Operational Concept Document for ADSC-A.

A draft document is expected to be available for comment on the DIP website, www.dip.qld.gov.au, in February.

Companies are invited to contact Kobold at ADSCA@kobold.com or on 07 3810 0000 to register their interest in the centre, to receive further information, or to arrange an individual meeting with the project manager.

Following industry engagement and internal reviews, a second draft of the Operational Concept is due to be delivered in April 2010.
