More than 50 industry and government figures attended yesterday’s Adelaide launch of the Australian Aerospace Alliance, an industry body formed to help its members build supply chains, learn from best practice and monitor business, technology and research trends.
Formed under the guidance of the Defence Teaming Centre and assisted by South Australian Department of State Development funding, the alliance was originally established to enable a core group of South Australian companies to pursue opportunities in the Global Supply Chain.
But its reach has now become national and companies from around Australia will be invited to join the 20 existing members.
The alliance will establish an advisory board and steering committees to oversee its five key capability areas of software, autonomous systems, advanced manufacturing, aircraft sustainment and avionics systems and electronic products.
“Presenting as a united front is a smarter way of doing business,” said alliance chairman Darryl Mincham, of Mincham Aviation.
“Instead of every company going out with their own business development team trying to win work, all of a sudden you have 20 companies with 30 business development people out there advocating on behalf of not only their company, but all the capabilities of the alliance.
It widens the catching mitt.”
