Static Engineering, now part of the Broens SA, has been supplying the Royal Australian Air Force with cargo loaders since the Australian acquisition of the C130s in the 1960s.
Known as TALU and TASLU, these cargo loaders are now exported to 20 Air Forces in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East because of their superiority and durability, proven by their relentless service for more than 30 years.
“Our export success is not ours alone, it belongs to our partnership with Defence, and we cannot be thankful enough” says Carlos Broens, CEO of the Broens Group.
“If it was not for the credibility we earn by RAAF utilisation of our equipment, the access offered for foreign Air Force visitors to witness them in action at RAAF bases, and the doors opened by the Defence Exports Unit of the DMO, Broens SA and its 80 jobs would not have been sustained”.
In March 2012, Broens SA delivered two Mobile Aircraft Washers and a TASLU to the UAE Air Force ahead of schedule to support their A330 MRTT.
Japan and Thailand are also among recent importers of TASLU, and the UAE is interested in additional units.
Broens SA had earlier modified TASLU to suit A330 MRTT to be able to support the recent acquisition of this aircraft for RAAF.
