Elbit Systems has successfully used a chest-worn control unit to operate a Skylark I LE (long endurance) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).

The control unit integrates with Elbit’s Dominator soldier digitisation package, which entered service with the Israel Defence Force (IDF) earlier this year and has also been ordered by the Australian military under the Land75/125 Battle Group and Below Command, Control and Communications (BGC3) project.

The BGC3 system comprises the battle management systems (BMS) for dismounted, mounted and HQ/command post applications, enabling the Army to achieve a major portion of its goal of operating a ‘networked brigade‘ under an all-connected ‘network centric warfare’ type of operations.

The ADF employs the Elbit Skylark UAV as an ‘interim solution’.
