Frequentis is proud to announce the award of the development of Release 9 of the EUROCONTROL EAD system.

The wide feature-range of EAD will be expanded further with ADQ components, web service extensions and an innovative workflow management system amongst many other new components and functionalities that will be made available to the numerous users of EAD.

Frank Brenner, Director General of EUROCONTROL, said, “'This is a major step towards the full compliance of the whole aeronautical data chain to the ADQ regulation - linking collection, redistribution and provision in an integrated manner - which is the basis for European air traffic management”.

The European Aeronautical Database EAD has just recently celebrated its 10th successful year of operation.  It was at that time and still is after that many years a unique centralised system – the only one of its kind world-wide.

During its time in operation, the system was constantly modernised and extended without service disruption and has up to now seen a tremendous increase of usage:

  • Its user base has grown by an average 32% each year since 2003
  • The increased annual license sales grew by an average 24% each year since 2003
  • It was able to cope with annual growth of 45% in flight plan-related messages since 2011

Nowadays, EAD handles almost 60,000 worldwide notices to airman (NOTAMs) each month. 155 clients in 63 countries worldwide are enjoying the advantages of this centralised service.
