GE Aerospace's Marine Engines & Systems has reached a milestone as the USS Pierre (LCS 38) was commissioned on November 15, in Panama City, Florida.

"The commissioning of USS Pierre marks the successful conclusion of the LCS program and showcases the continuous innovation GE Aerospace has delivered throughout this partnership," General Manager of Mobility Engines & Marine, Lisa Wade, said.

"The composite enclosure and electric start technologies pioneered on these ships will serve as the foundation for next-generation naval propulsion systems, demonstrating our commitment to advancing sailor safety, operational efficiency, and mission readiness."

This final Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) has marked the completion of GE Aerospace's delivery of 38 LM2500 marine gas turbine engines powering all 19 ships in the LCS program—each vessel equipped with two engines for propulsion.

The LCS is a mission-focused platform which has been designed for operations in near-shore environments. The USS Pierre has represented the culmination of continuous innovation throughout the LCS program, featuring GE Aerospace's advanced lightweight composite enclosure and RINA MIL-certified electric start system.
