Kongsberg and the Canadian company OSI Maritime Systems (OSI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for cooperation in the field of maritime navigation solutions, with a strong focus on the Canadian market and international export opportunities.
The cooperation reflects a shared ambition to combine complementary expertise across subsurface and surface vessels, bringing together Kongsberg's advanced maritime technologies and OSI Maritime Systems’ navigation and integrated bridge experience.
“This MoU further strenghtens our commitment to long-term partnership, technological innovation, and support for national and allied maritime capabilities,” Senior Vice President Naval Systems at Kongsberg, Lena Mariann Ulveraker, stated.
Submarine navigation is a central area of cooperation under the MoU, with relevance to the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project (CPSP). The collaboration aims to enhance safety, operational effectiveness and lifecycle support for next-generation submarines.
“The MoU between OSI and KONGSBERG is a great step in the deepening relationship between our companies. OSI’s navigation technology for surface and subsurface platforms is un-paralled and coupled with KONGSBERG’s capabilities and reach will allow both companies to access new markets, domestically and internationally. This presents an exciting new chapter for OSI,” VP Business Development at OSI Maritime Systems, Jim Davison, said.
Surface vessel applications are also covered, including integrated navigation and bridge solutions for naval fleets, strengthening Canadian industrial participation and joint efforts in international defence and maritime export markets.
