News Review: ITT opens Australian office | ADM May 2010
US based ITT Defense & Information Solutions have officially opened their Australian subsidiary in Canberra.
ITT Defence Australia, headed by local Graeme Clare, celebrated the opening of their offices last month, with US president David Melcher on hand for the celebrations.
"The ITT Defence Australia office is a critical step for ITT to grow our international footprint," Melcher said to industry and defence colleagues.
"ITT has developed a strong relationship with Australia over many years, and the new office reaffirms our commitment to engage with Australian industry partners wherever possible, to deliver and support ITT's equipment and systems."
ITT is best known in Australia for their night vision and EW technologies.
Their EW technology is currently in service with the newly delivered Super Hornets and jamming counter-IED equipment for vehicles.
As ADM went to press, the government also announced that the ITT-led team comprising Jenkins Engineering and Ultra Electronics Avalon Systems had been selected as preferred tenderer for the EW systems on the Air Warfare Destroyer.
In terms of growth in the Australian market, the company is looking at a mix of organic and acquisition opportunities, Clare confirmed to ADM.
