News Review: Oshkosh confident of holding US Army FMTV contract | ADM Feb 2010

Oshkosh Corporation was informed in mid-December 2009 by the US Government Accountability Office (GAO) of its decision regarding the protest by its competitors of the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV) contract, which was awarded to Oshkosh in August.

The majority of the protesters' claims were denied, including challenges to the evaluation of the Oshkosh Corporation price.

"At Oshkosh, we appreciate the GAO's thorough review and welcome the Army's re-evaluation of the two narrow issues recommended for reconsideration.

"We believe that our FMTV offer was, and continues to be, the best value for the US Army, our troops and the US taxpayer," Robert G. Bohn, Oshkosh Corporation chairman and chief executive officer said.

"It is important to realize that the decision did not recommend proposal revisions nor did it recommend termination of our contract."

However, BAE Systems has welcomed the GAO's recommendation that "the Army reevaluate the offerors' proposals under the capability evaluation factor, in a manner consistent with the terms of the solicitation, ... and make a new selection decision."

Both companies are contenders to supply the ADF with new trucks under Phase 3 of Project land 121 - Overlander which is due to announce a downselect to two companies shortly.
