News Review: SEWG debuts in Canberra | ADM May 2010
The Synthetic Environmental Working Group (SEWG) held its first meeting in Canberra on March 18.
Based on the highly successful Land Environment Working Group (LEWG) format, the inaugural meeting gathered over 100 delegates from 70 companies to facilitate communication between the Australian Defence Simulation Office (ADSO) and industry.
With presentations from all three service members of ADSO plus special presentations from the Joint Combined Training Centre (JCTC) and ADSO director Mike Brennan, the group is the first step towards a higher level of industry engagement from ADSO.
Presentations looked at current structures in place to deal with simulation contracting such as the Simulation Support Services Standing Office Panel (SSSSOP) and the strategic outlook under the Simulation Roadmap as well as projects on the horizon such as JP3028.
The meeting was co-chaired by Brennan and Calytrix's Steve Salmon, who was involved with the LEWG during its formation over a decade ago.
The group is looking to vote in an industry representative to co-chair the group in the future.
While the SEWG is in its nascent stage, it is searching for feedback from interested parties about how to best cater to the needs of both parties.
