AtkinsRéalis has entered into an agreement to acquire Coras, an Australian Defence and National Security advisory consultancy with offices in Canberra, Sydney and Adelaide.

“Joining forces with Coras will bolster our Defence proposition in Australia by bringing in a highly respected and credible advisory firm with deep client relationships and a strong track record of delivery,”  President, AMEA at AtkinsRéalis, Richard Robinson, stated.

Through this third acquisition in Australia, AtkinsRéalis is aiming to support the Defence sector by strengthening strategic decision making, enhancing program and portfolio governance, and improving assurance across complex Defence initiatives.

Together, the two organisations will focus on the sustained uplift of Australia’s sovereign Defence industrial base and helping the Australian Defence Force (ADF) deliver its long‑term ambitions.

“Founded by veterans and renowned for its deep sector knowledge, Coras has built credibility in the market through outstanding advisory services and the way it supports clients through practical, human-centered solutions to complex challenges. The combination of AtkinsRéalis’ global Defence, engineering and infrastructure expertise, our engineering capabilities in ADG and our agreement to acquire WGA, we are augmenting our Australian capabilities to build a stronger and more integrated offer for Defence clients as their needs continue to evolve," Robinson highlighted.

The agreement responds to growing demand for partners that can combine strategic advice, specialist expertise and delivery insight. As Defence programs increasingly focus on capability uplift, resilience and long-term outcomes, the ability to bring together advisory and technical expertise becomes more important.

“Over the past decade, Coras has focused on working alongside Defence to solve important problems with clarity, rigour and a strong understanding of their operating environment,” Chief Executive Officer of Coras, Phil Cutts, said.

“Working with AtkinsRéalis allows us to build on that foundation and rise to meet the future challenges within Defence and National Security It gives our clients and our team access to broader global expertise which will strengthen our ability to support Australia’s Defence priorities as part of a larger, complementary business.”

Over the last 10 years Coras has built its reputation as a trusted advisor with its team drawn largely from Defence, National Security and government backgrounds.

Coras is known for advisory engagements that support Def/ence program offices and headquarters functions across Australia. The firm provides services across the Defence capability lifecycle, including engineering and asset management, program governance and assurance, procurement and commercial advisory, strategic advisory, operations support, and data and AI services.

AtkinsRéalis has deep expertise, combined with proven global Defence capabilities from delivering integrated solutions across infrastructure, program delivery, digital engineering, security and mission-critical environments.

Bringing this together with Coras’ extensive local understanding and relationships will allow the combined organisation to support larger and more complex Defence programs across the region by positioning themselves even earlier in the Defence capability lifecycle, where trusted advisory, strategy and governance shape long‑term program success.

The proposed transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
