Aurora Labs has received a maiden purchase order from Sovereign Propulsion Systems (SPS) for the supply of 20 AU4 propulsion engines, for the cost of $250,000.

“Securing this maiden order from Sovereign Propulsion Systems is a major milestone for Aurora and validates the commercial readiness of our AU4 propulsion technology, while also reinforcing the strength of our partnership with another leading group. Importantly, this order marks the beginning of Aurora’s platform-agnostic commercialisation strategy and creates a clear pathway to scale in the defence and UAV markets. Working alongside SPS enables us to gather real flight data, strengthen product reliability, and accelerate customer validation — all of which are critical steps toward unlocking larger, recurring demand," Aurora Labs CEO, Rebekah Letheby, said.

SPS is a defence-aerospace company, specialising in the design, engineering, and manufacturing of robotic systems – particularly Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).

This maiden order has marked the commencement of a multi-phase integration and deployment program between Aurora and SPS, as both companies advance collaboration opportunities to grow propulsion capabilities in the Australian market with a specific focus on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) manufacturers.

Aurora’s AU4 propulsion engines will be deployed to support field testing at SPS’s South Australia facility, where real flight and performance data will be gathered for validation – a crucial step in Aurora’s platform-agnostic commercialisation strategy.
