The US State Department has approved a possible Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to Australia of AIM-120C and AIM-120D Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles and related equipment for an estimated cost of US $1.04 billion (approx. AU $1.67 billion). 

Australia has requested to buy up to 200 AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM); and approximately 200 AIM-120D-3 AMRAAMs. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible FMS. 

The following non-Major Defense Equipment (MDE) items will be included:  AMRAAM containers and support equipment; spare parts, consumables and accessories, repair and return support; weapons system support and software; classified software delivery and support; classified publications and technical documentation; transportation support; studies and surveys; US Government and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics support services; and other related elements of logistics and program support.
