Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) has received approval from the Defence Aviation Safety Authority (DASA) to manufacture parts for Australian Defence Force (ADF) aircraft in Australia.

The Military Production Organisation Approval (MPOA) covers parts for all ADF aircraft that are maintained by BDA which includes the E-7A Wedgetail, P-8A Poseidon, C-17A Globemaster, F/A-18F Super Hornet, EA-18G Growler, CH-47F Chinook, EC135-T2+ helicopter and Army's future fleet of AH-64E Apache helicopters.

BDA is the fourth Australian company to receive a MPOA.

"This authority builds greater self-reliance into Australia’s defence industry and will improve the availability of our military aircraft through faster, more cost-effective methods of parts production,” said the Managing Director of Boeing Defence Australia, Amy List.

“It’s a compelling endorsement of the quality of our production systems and our commitment to identifying ways of strengthening Australia’s sovereign military aircraft maintenance, repair, overhaul and upgrade capability.”

BDA has already made the first part for an Australian aircraft locally, with a plastic wire guard for the F/A-18F Super Hornet fleet having been completed by the company's workforce at RAAF Base Amberley.
