Chess Dynamics has confirmed that its latest positioner, Omega, is now in operational use as part of the Blue Jay Horizon system. The system was launched at the Indo Pacific International Maritime Exposition in Sydney.
"OMEGA was developed to meet our customers’ need to precisely position payloads of increasingly heavier weights. Its rapid integration into Blue Jay Horizon demonstrates the trusted partnership established with Mellori — a collaboration that enables complex, capability-enhancing systems to be delivered efficiently and effectively to end-users," Managing Director at Chess Dynamics, Andy Smith, said.
The Blue Jay Horizon system was developed by Mellori and has enabled crews to train, test and build confidence in their sensors under real-world maritime conditions.
"Blue Jay Horizon will operate in a demanding maritime environment which will require an exceptional understanding of one of its most critical subsystems — the gyro-stabilised positioning pedestal," Managing Director at Mellori, Phil Guy, stated.
"Chess Dynamics has provided the specialist expertise needed to ensure OMEGA meets the rigorous performance demands of high-sea states, long-range positioning accuracy, and continuous stabilisation under motion."
According to Chess Dynamics, Omega, as part of the Blue Jay Horizon system, will provide high-torque movement for long-range RF payloads. It has a payload capacity of up to 500kg.
Omega is part of Chess Dynamics’ modular positioner family, which are designed for applications across land, maritime and multi-domain environments.
"This technical integration ensures that Blue Jay Horizon’s payloads remain precisely aligned and fully effective, even in the most challenging conditions, reinforcing the system’s reliability for navies and maritime operators worldwide," Guy highlighted.
Omega is the latest addition to Chess’s high-performance positioner family, which also includes Cobra, Viper and Zeta.
All Chess positioners share a common modular product architecture and are designed for ease of integration with customer payloads. The existing portfolio to which Omega has now been added is in service with international customers.
