Civmec has entered into a non-binding agreement with NVL Group to acquire Luerssen Australia.
If the acquisition is approved by the Commonwealth, NVL Group will transfer its entire shareholding in Luerssen Australia to Civmec, including all of Luerssen Australia's assets, personnel, and licences.
The acquisition is also subject to due diligence by Civmec and NVL.
"The acquisition of Luerssen Australia is a natural step for Civmec as a sovereign Australian shipbuilder with world class shipbuilding facilities and an experienced shipbuilding workforce. Having worked on the project since 2018 we’re confident in our ability to execute the remaining work scope and ensure a smooth transition for all stakeholders," said Civmec’s Executive Chairman, Jim Fitzgerald.
Civmec is currently responsible for the construction of four of the six Arafura class offshore patrol vessels.
None of the vessels being built by Civmec have been launched to date.
