Elbit Systems has announced that it has been awarded a contract worth approximately US$600 million to supply systems to Hanwha Defence Australia (HDA) for Land 400 Phase 3.

With a down select of HDA as the preferred partner for the Land 400 Phase 3 project announced in July 2023, the company signed an approximately $4 billion contract with the Commonwealth for the delivery of 129 Redback Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs) last December.

Elbit and Hanwha first confirmed their cooperation on the Redback IFV in June 2022. Following the Australian government down select, Elbit Systems announced in August 2023 that they anticipated a contract as part of the project, contingent upon completion of negotiations between both parties.

The Redback integrates the Redback Turret, which is based on the latest generation of Elbit’s 30 mm manned turret with the COAPS gunner sight, additional electro-optic systems, Iron Fist active protection system, Elbit's Iron-Vision advanced situational awareness head mounted display system, and Elbit's ELAWS laser warning system.

"This milestone reaffirms our commitment to delivering advanced, mission-critical solutions to the Australian Army," said Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis, President and CEO of Elbit Systems.

"Elbit Systems is dedicated to supplying cutting-edge defence technologies that will safeguard troops on the modern battlefield."

The company stated that the contract will be completed over a period of five years, and aims to deliver advanced protection, fighting capabilities and sensors suite to the Redback Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFV) for the Australian Army.
