Honeywell announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) to jointly elevate the Indonesian Armed Forces’ S-70M helicopter fleet at the Singapore Airshow 2024, currently taking place at Changi Exhibition Centre.
Honeywell and PTDI will explore opportunities around the procurement of Honeywell’s avionics and mechanical products on S-70M helicopters designated for the Indonesian Army.
The MOU also outlines potential areas of collaboration in the localisation of Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) capabilities for Honeywell's avionics and mechanical systems on the helicopters, as well as the manufacturing and supply of the Harness Assembly by PTDI for Honeywell.
"We are honoured to collaborate with PTDI once more to advance the capabilities of the Indonesian Armed Forces' S-70M helicopters," said Sathesh Ramiah, Vice President, Defense & Space, Asia Pacific at Honeywell Aerospace Technologies.
"This MoU not only demonstrates our commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions to strengthen the military’s modernisation efforts, but also signifies our dedication to foster strong partnerships within the Indonesian aerospace and defence industry, as well as defence departments in the region."
This MoU follows the recent MoU signing in November 2023, where both parties committed to explore their collaboration on several initiatives across maintenance services, parts upgrades, and manufacturing to enhance the Indonesian Armed Forces' mission readiness.
“PTDI and Honeywell have a strong relationship years ago since 1992 in providing several systems on CN235 for IDAF and NC212 engines, and the signing today with Honeywell reaffirms PTDI’s commitment to deliver this critical rotary wing asset in support of Indonesia’s security needs and the modernisation efforts of its Armed Forces,” said Gita Amperiawan, President Director at PTDI.
Honeywell also announced a repair licensing agreement with AMETEK Singapore for flight recorders on Airbus A320, A330, and A340, and Boeing 737NG, 737Max, and 777 aircraft. This repair licensing agreement with AMETEK Singapore for Honeywell Flight Data Recorders (FDR) and Cockpit Voice Recorders (CVR) will be the first for both parties in Asia-Pacific.
The repair licensing agreement between Honeywell and AMETEK Singapore will run for five years, extending the strategic collaboration between both parties.
“As Honeywell continues to forge strategic alliances to advance our aerospace capabilities, we are excited to embark on this partnership with AMETEK," said said Eric Ai, Vice President of APAC Airlines, Honeywell Aerospace Technologies.
"AMETEK's commitment to maintenance excellence aligns seamlessly with Honeywell's dedication to delivering high-quality solutions. Together, we look forward to providing airline customers around the region with exceptional service and safety standards."
