Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace will build a factory to produce Naval Strike Missiles and Joint Strike Missiles in Virginia.
When complete, the factory will be one of three facilities worldwide that can produce both missiles. It will complement Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace's primary facility in Kongsberg, Norway, as well as the new facility under construction near Newcastle Airport by Kongsberg Defence Australia.
"The US Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force are important customers for Kongsberg’s Naval Strike Missile and Joint Strike Missile. Their demand signals gave us the predictability we needed to make this investment in the United States,” said the President of Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace, Eirik Lie.
“This will allow us to better serve our allies in the US and continue to expand that supply chain locally, building capacity and redundancy for these critical capabilities.”
Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace will invest more than $US100 million in the facility over coming years.
