Kord Group has secured a $11 million Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with Booz Allen Hamilton to supply its Rifle Accessory Control Unit (RACU) System Technology to the US Army.

RACU allows soldiers to control all of their electronic devices via weapon-mounted push-buttons while simultaneously keeping their hands on their weapons and their eyes up.

“Think of it as a simple, common remote for the soldier, which gives them quick, easy and intuitive control,” explained Kord's Group Managing Director, Dr Peter Moran.

“It’s a force multiplier, simple to learn, and rugged. It allows soldiers to keep head up, eyes on target and hands on weapon.”

The contract was awarded to Kord by Booz Allen Hamilton as part of the larger ~$1.4 billion US Army Engineering, Development, Integration, and Technology-based Solutions (EDITS) program.

Kord's specific subcontract will see RACU evaluated by the US Army to serve as the Common Remote for the Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW). The US Marine Corps and Australian Army have also been working with Kord for years to help develop and mature the system.

“This is more than just about securing a technology contract. It’s a wonderful example of the collaboration between Australia and the US across militaries, innovation and industry for the benefit of both countries. We’re proud to advance our AUKUS agreement goals and continue to strengthen the relationship between our two countries," Dr Moran explained.
