Navantia Australia has facilitated a meeting between Australian heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) SME Chillflow Solutions and Frizonia, a European HVAC company, to discuss potential technology transfer opportunities as part of Project Sea 3000.
Frizonia is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of the HVAC, chilled water, and refrigeration stores equipment installed aboard all Navantia-designed vessels used by the Royal Australian Navy.
“As Frizonia do not have an Australian sales or maintenance agent and Chillflow has been servicing the HVAC and refrigeration systems for the RAN, it seemed like there were natural synergies for the two companies," explained Navantia Australia's Head of Supply Chain, Michael Stove.
During the meeting, the companies discussed Frizonia potentially transferring technology and intellectual property to Chillflow, so that Chillflow can build Frizonia HVAC systems at its facility in Cockburn, Western Australia. They also discussed the possibility of Chillflow personnel embedding with Frizonia's workforce in Spain to help build the first three General Purpose Frigates, should Navantia Australia's proposal be successful.
"Chillflow has committed years of industrial experience to providing first class HVAC engineering and sustainment solutions for the RAN and Navantia. Partnering with with specialist OEMs further enhances our capabilities for future shipbuilding in Australia,” said Chillflow's Commercial Director, John Crowder.
