QuantX Labs has sold two optical atomic clocks to Defence through two contracts totalling $2.7 million.
The portable clocks were developed based on technology matured at the Institute of Photonics and Advanced Sensing (IPAS) at The University of Adelaide.
QuantX Labs will deliver a mobile precision timing test bed to Defence Science and Technology Group's Edinburgh facilities in 2025. It will be used to test and evaluate sensors, communication, and navigation systems to determine operational resilience in a GPS-degraded scenario.
The company will also deliver optical atomic clocks to in support of AUKUS Pillar II before the end of 2024.
Testing of QuantX Labs optical clocks has shown almost an order of magnitude improvement on the performance of the current microwave atomic clocks used in today’s Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS).
