Queensland has launched the QuantumTX Queensland METS and Defence Industries Accelerator; a 12-week program that supports local startups and SMEs to scale solutions that serve both the defence and Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS) sectors.

“We’re seeing extraordinary potential where Defence, Resources and METS intersect. Significant industries that thrive on innovation that improves productivity, safety, supply chain, and operations,”  Principal of Atomic Sky and Founder of QuantumTX, Peter Rossdeutscher, said. 

The program will cost $25,000 per participant and will be backed by the Queensland Government. QuantumTX shall provide commercialisation support, industry connections, and mentoring tailored to businesses solving real-world supply chains, industry needs, environmental challenges, and digital opportunities.

“This program builds on the successful impact to date of QuantumTX helping Queensland’s startups and SMEs scale dual-use innovation and technologies that provide competitive advantage to major industries on a global stage,” Rossdeutscher stated. 

Participating businesses will gain access to mentors, government and industry networks, and direct feedback from operators and procurement teams. QuantumTX will include a workshop in Mackay and a Brisbane showcase event connecting participants with potential partners, investors, and customers.

“Late stage TRL researchers are also encouraged to apply and commercialise with industry support. Prominent companies in all major Queensland sectors support Quantum TX with a particular focus on new and innovative solutions, solutions from the regions and from our First Nations people," QuantumTX Program Director, Kylah Morrison, affirmed. 

The business involved in the program will receive:

  • Mentoring on commercialisation, business modelling & capital raising
  • Training on the Application of AI and Digital into SME Solutions
  • Understanding Defence and Resources Market Entry Pathways
  • Cross-industry introductions into METS, Defence, BioFuels and Resources Export Positioning and Sovereign Supply Chain Alignment.

Applications are now open to: Queensland-based startups, SMEs, researchers, and scale-ups working across (or adjacent to) the defence and resources sectors.
