Saab Australia and maritime electronics company Wright Technologies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding defence and maritime opportunities in New Zealand.

Saab has experience in defence technology and complex systems integration that specialises in advanced underwater systems. The company has an underwater portfolio which has included defence and commercial systems.

Above the surface, Saab’s 9LV combat management systems and integrated communication system, TactiCall, has provided scalable solutions for some of the world's defence forces.

Wrights have over 60 years’ experience in operating across the defence and commercial maritime industries in New Zealand and the South Pacific region. The company has specialised in complex engineering including installation, repair and maintenance of maritime systems.

Through the MoU the two companies will explore opportunities to contribute to the New Zealand Government’s plan to rebuild the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) and prepare for an increasingly volatile world.

Saab products currently in service in New Zealand have included the TactiCall communications system and remotely operated vehicles for inspection, repair and intervention tasks.
