Saab Australia (Saab) has appointed Mark Wallis as General Manager Systems Delivery Group to lead the organisation’s naval combat systems capability delivery to the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).
Saab Australia Managing Director Andy Keough said the appointment reinforces leadership continuity and capability at a time when maritime security is central to Australia’s defence priorities.
“Naval combat systems are a critical element of Australia’s maritime defence capability, and Saab plays a key role in delivering and sustaining that capability for the RAN,” Keough stated.
“Mark’s appointment provides leadership continuity and ensures we remain focused on delivering complex, sovereign combat systems capability to the RAN at a time of sustained operational demand.”
Wallis' appointment comes at a time of significant activity across Saab Australia’s naval combat systems portfolio, with the company performing the critical role as the sovereign Australian Combat Management System (AusCMS) provider for the RAN.
Wallis has almost five years’ experience at Saab Australia, more than 20 years in the defence industry, and a strong background in private‑sector engineering leadership.
The announcement has followed Saab’s recent establishment of the Hobart Australian Interface Reference Site at Mawson Lakes, marking a milestone in the delivery of the Australian Interface for the Hobart Class destroyer combat system.
