Saab Australia (Saab) has signed a three-year contract extension with the Commonwealth of Australia to provide full support services for the Australian Army’s Lightweight Multi-Mode Radar (LMMR).
Saab Australia Managing Director Andy Keough said the LMMR capability continues to be a critical element of the Australian Army’s force protection.
“This contract extension builds on Saab’s long-standing partnership with the Australian Army to deliver and sustain ground-based air defence capability,” Keough said.
Under the contract extension, Saab will continue providing end-to-end support for the full fleet of systems from South Australia, including engineering, maintenance, logistics, storage, and distribution, working closely with the original equipment manufacturer, SRCTec.
“Saab’s work supporting critical radar capability draws on decades of experience providing advanced air defence solutions and supporting the Australian Defence Force’s operational readiness across a range of capabilities," Keough stated.
The AN/TPQ-49 LMMR, supported by Saab since 2015, provides short-range protection against indirect fires and airborne threats for deployed forces, enabling Australian Army personnel to manoeuvre and defend critical assets in contested environments.
