Saturn Fluid Engineering (Saturn FE) and Cooper Fluid Systems (CFS) have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), establishing a strategic partnership focused on supporting Defence, maritime and industrial capability across Australia.

The collaboration brings together Saturn FE’s specialised experience in hydraulic and fluid management services with CFS’s national footprint and established capability across hydraulic, lubrication, fluid dispensing and refuelling solutions.

The partnership, the companies believe, represents an uplift to Australia’s maritime industrial capability across both surface and sub-surface programs, strengthening sovereign capacity in areas critical to shipbuilding, sustainment, operational readiness and long-term industrial resilience.

The partnership is expected to support opportunities across: maritime production programs; surface and sub-surface vessel sustainment; bespoke engineered solutions; and infrastructure and industrial support activities

The arrangement also aligns strongly with the intent of the Australian Government’s 2024 Naval Shipbuilding & Sustainment Plan: Evolving the Enterprise, which highlighted the importance of greater collaboration across industry, government, academia and key stakeholders to deliver an integrated and sustainable national maritime enterprise.

The collaboration further supports the Defence Industry Minister’s broader focus on sovereign industrial capability, industrial uplift and the strengthening of trusted partnerships across allied nations.

With Saturn FE also supporting elements of the Canadian naval shipbuilding program, the partnership reflects the growing importance of trusted international collaboration across allied maritime and Defence ecosystems.

The partnership represents a positive step forward in strengthening industrial collaboration between the United Kingdom and Australia and demonstrates the type of practical industry alignment required to support the future demands of Australia’s Defence and maritime sectors.
