Seatransport has secured the approval and exclusive licence for Class approved closed cell foam for commercial vessels from Lloyd's Register.
The company has been working with Strathclyde University in Scotland and a European foam manufacturer to improve the technology by overcoming toxicity and flammability concerns for six years. The foam will be incorporated into Seatransports existing designs, including the Stern Landing Vessel it is building for the US Marine Corps. Insertion of the foam into all available void spaces is expected to significantly increase the designs survivability.
"This brings to 11 the number of reasons to not choose conventional bow landing vessel designs," said Seatransport's Chariman, Dr Stuart Ballantyne.
