Silentium Defence has delivered the first five Maverick Fortress-3D passive radar systems to Lockheed Martin Australia as part of Project Air 6500 - Joint Air Battle Management System (JABMS).
The systems, which are containerised in 10-foot ISO containers, can operate either independently or as part of a larger network.
Unlike Silentium Defence’s smaller Maverick M8, which is a 2D radar, the Fortress-3D can provide range, azimuth, and elevation information about radar contacts.
The systems, which were delivered early to Lockheed Martin Australia under Tranche 2A of Project Air 6500, will be one of several kinds sensors integrated into the company’s JABMS solution.
"In partnership with Defence, Lockheed Martin Australia is drawing on the nation’s best homegrown technologies to build an advanced, resilient and affordable air battle management system that bolsters Australia’s national security,” said the Chief Executive of Lockheed Martin Australia and New Zealand, Warren McDonald.
CEA Technologies’ radar systems will also be integrated into JABMS, with the first radar set for delivery before the end of the year through Tranche 1 of Project Air 6500.
“With handover of our ‘MAVERICK Fortress-3D' passive radar systems, Silentium Defence has delivered both technology faster and an edge for Defence, and we’re immensely proud of that achievement,” said the CEO of Silentium Defence, Dr James Palmer.
ADM will feature an in-depth look at Project Air 6500 in the September/October edition of the magazine.
