Singapore’s ST Engineering signed agreements with Airbus and Embraer to provide support for the manufacturers’ military airlift aircraft at the Singapore Airshow.

The agreements cover the Airbus C295 light tactical transport and Embraer’s KC-390 Millennium medium airlift aircraft.

The agreement between Airbus Defence and Space and ST Engineering’s Defence Aerospace business announced on 21 February will see the two companies collaborate to establish a Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) capability for the C295 in the Asia-Pacific region.

As an Airbus-accredited MRO, ST Engineering will provide depot level maintenance and turnkey support solutions at its facility in Singapore.

The C295 is already operated in the region by the Bangladesh Army, Royal Brunei Air Force, Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU) and Indonesian Police, Philippine Air Force, Royal Thai Army, and the Vietnam People’s Air Force. Airbus was also actively marketing the C295MPA & MSA (Maritime Patrol and Maritime Surveillance) variants of the aircraft at Singapore Airshow 2024.

“With this latest collaboration with Airbus, we are extending our MRO solutions in tactical airlifters to the C295 platform,” commented Sarbjit Singh, ST Engineering’s President of Defense Aerospace.

“Working closely with Airbus we will harness our deep experience and capabilities in MRO to contribute to the mission success of the C295 operators in the region.”

The C-390 agreement signed with Embraer was announced on the Brazilian manufacturer’s social media channels during Singapore 2024.

“Embraer signed an MoU with ST Engineering to explore collaboration in key identified areas such as engineering, maintenance and support service activities for the C-390 Millennium in the Asia Pacific region. Also, both companies will cooperate in products and services including radars and land systems, C4ISTAR, border security, simulation and advanced production methodologies,” an Embraer spokesperson said.

“We look forward to working together to provide cutting-edge defence solutions to the market.”

ST Engineering also announced a partnership with Honeywell to deliver a state-of-the-art cockpit and mechanical component upgrades for two Tunisian Air Force (TAF) Lockheed C-130H Hercules aircraft on 22 February.
