The Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) has wrapped up its C-130H training deployment in Australia for this year.

A No. 122 Squadron RSAF C-130H, alongside around 140 personnel from both No. 122 Squadron and the 3rd Singapore Armed Forces Transport Battalion, deployed to RAAF Richmond on 29 April to undertake the unilateral training.

While most of the training undertaken was unilateral, it was supported by several Australian Defence Force (ADF) units including No. 22 Squadron and No. 453 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), as well the Army's No. 176 Air Dispatch Squadron.

The training included night and daytime flying, airdrop operations, and parachuting operations around New South Wales.

“The RSAF's training will be largely unilateral, but it also allows RAAF, the Australian Army, Republic of Singapore Air Force and Singapore Armed Forces counterparts to integrate and further enhance our interoperability," said Air Commodore Bradley Clarke, Commander Air Mobility Group.

“The success of the training detachment will enhance our two nation’s ability to collaborate and work together in future," he added.

The annual deployment of a C-130 to RAAF Richmond is one of many training activities conducted by the Singapore in Australia. In addition to regular deployments to Australia's northern training areas, the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) has apermanent presence at RAAF Pearce, where RSAF PC-21s fly alongside Australian ones, and at Oakey where there is a detachment of CH-47F Chinooks.
