Spiral Blue has announced its first international LiDAR export, a strategic sale to Lodestar Space, a United Kingdom-based company.

“While this is one small step for us on a long journey to building LiDAR in space for Earth observation, it was critically important that we absolutely nailed this first step. And nailed it we have," CEO of Spiral Blue, Taofiq Huq, stated.

With the first unit delivered, Spiral Blue is accelerating the development of a next-generation version to meet Lodestar’s evolving mission requirements.

"Following the integration of Spiral Blue's LiDAR into our sensor stack we have de-risked a crucial element in delivering persistent, co-orbital capabilities to safeguard critical orbital infrastructure," CTO of Lodestar Space, Thomas Santini, said.

This delivery has represented a foundational step in Spiral Blue’s technical roadmap toward high-altitude, Space-to-Earth LiDAR capabilities.

This collaboration will enable Lodestar Space to integrate Spiral Blue’s LiDAR suite for space-to-space applications. By using Spiral Blue’s LiDAR technology, Lodestar hopes to enhance its orbital manoeuvring and proximity sensing capabilities.

Spiral Blue is already accelerating the next phase of its LiDAR roadmap, with a high-performance LiDAR iteration engineered for multi-kilometer scanning range currently in development.

On track for completion in the coming weeks, this enhanced capability it is hoped will broaden the operational envelope for Lodestar Space and cement Spiral Blue's trajectory toward long-range orbital sensing.
