Rob Hulls, Deputy Premier of Victoria, has visited Production Parts’ Melbourne facility to officially launch a new contract between Pratt & Whitney and Production Parts to manufacture a critical engine component for the Joint Strike Fighter F135 propulsion system.
This new order has a potential value of more than $40 million over the life of the program.
Production Parts has a proven track record of supplying into the F-35 Lightning II Program and currently exports a range of components for the new jet.
“The award of this contract positions Victoria as a world leader in the competitive defence manufacturing industry,” Hulls said at the ceremony.
“Production Parts has been producing engine components for Pratt & Whitney from the start of the F135 program, and continues to demonstrate its ability to deliver quality components, on time, to meet the needs of our customers,” Stacey Himler, F-135 International Program Manager for Pratt & Whitney, said.
Pratt & Whitney awarded Production Parts a purchase order to manufacture the high compressor case for the F135 engine program.
This component provides a portion of the outer structural backbone of the engine.
It also helps direct the internal flow of compressed air into the combustor.
