The Department of Defence will appear before the
Public Works Committee for the inquiry into the proposed Defence Logistics
Transformation Program (DLTP) to upgrade Defence bases and barracks in NSW,
Queensland, Western Australia, Victoria, South Australia and Northern
Territory.
The committee will conduct three public hearings on
the multi-million dollar project in Ipswich, Darwin and Sydney.
The project will deliver new or refurbished purpose-built
infrastructure that will enable Defence’s seven Joint Logistics Command units
to provide enhanced support to Australian Defence Force elements and
operations.
The cost of the works is approximately $752 million,
excluding GST.
The proposed works will occur on the following eight
sites: Moorebank, Sydney, NSW RAAF Base Amberley, Ipswich, Qld Lavarack Barracks, Townsville, Qld Robertson Barracks, Palmerston, NT HMAS Stirling, Rockingham, WA Palmer Barracks, Guildford, WA RAAF Base Edinburgh, Edinburgh, SA Wadsworth Barracks, East Bandiana, Vic.
