QinetiQ has recently been awarded a five-year contract by Defence to provide engineering services to the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) at their Melbourne facility, which covers a range of design, manufacturing and applied imaging services.
This contract, which provides for a seamless transition from the incumbent, came into effect from 1 July 2010 and provides DSTO with access to 500 professional engineers, including manufacturing specialists, to support specific tasks where it is not cost-effective to maintain a team at the Melbourne site.
These engineers include people from Brisbane-based TAE who, as part of the QinetiQ team, will provide DSTO with access to specialist engineering machinery.
QinetiQ is also providing approximately 40 people to deliver an on-site engineering capability in Melbourne.
QinetiQ has a long established presence at DSTO Melbourne, through its Aircraft Structural Integrity services.
QinetiQ CEO Mike Kalms said DSTO was a critically important client for QinetiQ Australia, and this service enhanced their close and long-standing relationship.
“We will invest in the continuous improvement of our people and facility as part of this contract to ensure that the service continues to meet with DSTO’s ongoing requirements,” Kalms said.
