Saab Australia (Saab) and Philips Australia have signed a contract for the delivery of innovative healthcare solutions as part of Australia’s deployable health capability (DHC) program, JP2060 Phase 3.

The multi-year contract with Philips is one of a number of four strategic capability partnerships that Saab, leading Australia’s deployable health capability program, will enter for its delivery of flexible and fully operational deployable hospitals to the Australian Defence Force (ADF).

Saab has selected Philips to act as the lead provider and integrator of healthcare solutions and medical technical equipment, with an initial supporting contract starting at AU$2 million. Over the next 18 months, as Saab completes the required JP2060 detailed design milestones with the Department of Defence, its contract with Philips is expected to grow to over AU$50 million.

The contract with Philips is designed to deliver the most technologically advanced health care solutions and point of care diagnostics, enabling emergency field doctors, surgeons and clinical teams to make informed diagnostic decisions at the scene of the emergency, empowering them to deliver the best of clinical care on deployment and in the field.

“Our partnership with Philips is vital in supporting the delivery of world-class and sophisticated health care solutions into this new, landmark capability that will support Australian Defence Force military and humanitarian operations,” Andy Keough, Managing Director of Saab Australia said.

“Saab’s delivery of Australia’s deployable health capability program will provide new, life-saving capability to the Australian Defence Force that enables safe, effective and immediate treatment in the field for Australian troops.”

“We’ve brought together a suite of solutions that meet the special requirements of the Australian Deployable Health Capability program, maximising the possibilities of healthcare delivery from anywhere and anytime,” Matt Moran, Managing Director of Philips Australia and New Zealand added.

Saab has recently commenced construction of its purpose-built South East Queensland facility, which will serve as the base of operations for Australia’s DHC Program. As part of its partnership with Defence, Saab is also relocating its global Centre of Excellence from Europe to Australia.
