As part of its long term agreement with Harris Corporation, Australian engineering company TAE has successfully delivered the latest batch of advanced liquid cooled electronics enclosures for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) aircraft.

Doubly important for this Australian company is the fact that amongst these deliveries are enclosures for the first F-35s to be acquired by the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).

The Hon. Jason Clare, Australian Minister for Defence Material was recently present at TAE to witness delivery of these enclosures for the first Australian F-35s. Minister Clare praised TAE’s contribution to the program and commitment to expanding Australia’s participation in global programs such as the Joint Strike Fighter. He said “TAE has shown it is a globally competitive manufacturer which has won work on the most advanced fighter aircraft in the world. The parts made here will be installed on every Joint Strike Fighter. That means there will be a little bit of Queensland in every plane.”

Mr Andrew Sanderson, General Manager of TAE said “TAE is very proud, both of what we have accomplished and to be a part of the JSF program. As an Australian company, to have parts on the first Australian F-35s is something that is especially pleasing”.

Mr Sanderson went on to explain that TAE’s wide range of manufacturing capabilities, especially its Aluminium Vacuum Brazing technology; dedicated professional work force; and emphasis on on-time, quality performance all contributed to ensuring the success in achieving goals such as this. TAE has worked closely with Harris Corporation on this program for a number of years and TAE is the first Australian company to have successfully developed the Aluminium Vacuum Brazing technology and is one of only a small number world-wide to have the capability.

Mr Mark McKenzie, Harris Corporation’s Supply Chain Manager for the F-35/Lightning II Program commented “TAE is an important part of the Harris team and has been delivering world class products to us. Their dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to excellence have led to significant accomplishments. We look forward to continuing and expanding our successful relationship with them for many years to come”.
