The company has also appointed Chris Field as Senior Sales Manager for Ship Power and Navy.
Field has been with Wärtsilä Australia for nearly 12 years, and has spent more than 20 years in the ADF as a design draftsman.
"The growth of the Defence industry in and around Adelaide is definitely the main reason we have set up dedicated operations here," Field said.
"At present, we are looking at about a 20 per cent annual growth in Defence work in South Australia and as a company that has a long and proud history in working with all of the world's major navies, we see a perfect fit here."
Wärtsilä Australia provides environmentally and economically sound integrated power solutions including everything from engines, automation, seals and bearings to related services.
The company's power solutions are on board all Australian mine hunter and supply ships, and Wärtsilä also provides all seals and bearings for the Collins class submarines.
