World-renowned technology capable of cutting and engraving anything from stainless steel and glass to perspex, wood or fabric is now available to Australian students following an announcement by the not-for-profit organisation, Re-Engineering Australia Foundation.
REA Foundation has been sourcing industry-standard technology - including engineering software and CNC manufacturing centres - for schools for more than a decade and now it has an alliance with the Taiwan-based company GCC.
“In line with our goal of providing the latest industry technology to schools, REA is now making available a range of GCC Laser Cutting and Engraving technology aimed at enhancing the teaching of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in the class room”, says REA Foundation Founder and Executive Chairman Michael Myers.
“GCC is recognised as a world leader in Electro Optical Automation. Their range of laser products are the recognised leader in the UK education market with an 80% market share and they are well suited to the Australian market.”
Mr Myers says REA Foundation selected the GCC products because they are easy to implement into the classroom environment, they are simple for teachers and students to operate, are classroom-safe and reliable, and GCC provides high levels of technical support.
“These machines allow teachers to further enhance student understanding of the application of real world STEM in the classroom”, adds Mr Myers.
“The GCC range of high quality laser equipment complements our existing line-up of CNC routers, mills and lathes from Denford. We are all about surrounding students with the same technology as used by industry, to make them more employable when they enter the work force.”
GCC Laser Cutters and Engravers are suitable for an extensive range of materials including wood, perspex, glass, acrylic, leather, fabric, metal, rubber, jewellery, carpet...and even tennis balls and mobile phone covers. They can even produce three dimensional photo-realistic images on a range of materials.
