Omnetics Micro Circular series expands to 39 contacts

Omnetics micro-sized (0.50 inch pitch) circular connectors are now available from 5 to 39 contacts.  

These connectors are available in compact metal or standard (LCP liquid crystal polymer insulators) offering designers the ability to dramatically reduce size and weight for circuits requiring multiple pin interconnections systems. 

Applications include mobile robotic equipment, hand-held electronics, future soldier systems and unmanned aerial vehicle’s (UAV).

The current rating is set for up to 3 amps per contact with a dielectric withstand voltage of 600 volts and insulation resistance of 5000 Meg-ohms at 500 volts DC.

These Micro-miniature connectors are designed to perform consistently up through 20g level of vibration with no discontinuities greater than 1 microsecond and pass 50g level of shock and they have nickel and gold plated beryllium copper Flex-pin.

Metal shells and plating options include nickel, brass, stainless steel and black oxide finishes. Shielded cabling is banded to the metal shells giving excellent EMI protection.

Standard and custom back-shells are available, as well as pre-molded strain-reliefs to help users fit the size and shape of the cable attached.

The designer can specify mixed signal formats to reduce even further size, shape and weight of the interconnection systems as a whole.

When combining two connectors into one using two different pin types or pin sizes, inside one insulator/shell, the designer has reduced the number of outer shells and concentrated the signal and power entry area into the instrument.

This significantly improves the miniaturisation of the equipment involved.
