Australian-owned major warship builder, ASC Shipbuilding, has commenced work assisting in the maintenance of the advanced Maritime Aviation Training Vessel, MV Sycamore.
The project will create work for up to 30 employees and contractors during the docking of the 94 metre, 2,400 ton vessel.
ASC Shipbuilding has been contracted by the vessel’s operator, Teekay Shipping, for this project to provide specialist support to complete the work on the MV Sycamore within a tight deadline at the Osborne South shipyard.
“This engagement shows how ASC’s shipbuilders can provide high-level services in support of the local industry, leveraging the capability we have developed in the Air Warfare Destroyer program,” Jim Cuthill, acting CEO of ASC Shipbuilding, said.
“Our work on the MV Sycamore sets a precedent in working co-operatively with the newly established Australian Naval Infrastructure as it attracts more work to the Commonwealth-owned shipyard in Osborne, South Australia, in coming years.”

The MV Sycamore is a leased aviation training vessel working with RAN and Border Force.
