QinetiQ Australia has been awarded a $9.25 million contract to provide the Royal Australian Navy with explosive ordinance engineering and logistics services at HMAS Waterhen’s mine warfare maintenance facility in Sydney.

An experienced team of seven QinetiQ engineering, maintenance, project management and logistics specialists will maintain mine warfare training equipment and support training exercises for the RAN for a contracted period of five years, with extensions up to 10 years.

QinetiQ Australia Managing Director Greg Barsby said the company has a long history partnering with Defence's Explosive Materiels Branch to provide specialist engineering, logistics and program management support.

“Since 2010, our technical experts have worked side by side with the Defence Science and Technology Group, operating their integrated engineering services facilities at Fishermans Bend in Port Melbourne. And through our current structural integrity contracts and heritage companies, we have enjoyed a strong partnership with Defence Aviation Safety Authority and DST Group that spans almost two decades."
