Firbank Grammar School is delighted to announce Senior School Boarding scholarships.

This is an opportunity for senior school girls (Years 7–12) to receive a scholarship to help them pursue their dream of completing secondary school and beginning their journey into tertiary or other education, whilst relieving some of the financial pressures associated with top education.

Firbank Grammar is excited to be supporting the Defence community to help transform the life of a veteran’s or serving member’s child and support them on their journey to become a future Australian leader.

Firbank Grammar’s Principal Jenny Williams said, “By providing the ADF Scholarships, we know that we will be able to make elements of secondary study more accessible – given the constant need to move around and potential deployments – stability, access to facilities and social inclusion during your secondary school years. This enables students to pursue their dreams and help shape the future of the world we want to live in.”

About Firbank

Nestled within the heart of the Bayside area in Melbourne, Firbank Grammar School has been a popular choice among hundreds of ADF families who face the critical decision of which school to send their daughter to.

With extensive experience educating children from around Australia and overseas, Firbank’s staff are well-equipped to offer support for students and parents who may be on their own due to postings or deployments. The Firbank boarding staff are empathetic and trained to foster a strong connection with the boarders, helping them settle into a home away from home where they will be respected and cared for.

Experienced in caring for students with a wide variety of backgrounds and individual needs, the Firbank boarding, wellbeing and year level specialist staff ensure that each boarder gets the most out of their time in the Boarding House. Boarders excel in their personal growth and development, which comes through the routine, structure and opportunities to develop self-care skills offered by boarding at Firbank.

Firbank provides the consistency and stability to help daughters of ADF families handle sudden upheaval or regular postings. Past Firbank boarders have lived in nine or ten places throughout their childhood, but Firbank’s Boarding House becomes another home they can count on for stability, in a safe environment with a community in which they are valued. Girls can focus on their studies and form deep connections that will last well beyond their final years at the School.

The extensive outdoor education programs offered by Firbank Grammar are often of great interest to ADF families. Such programs include excursions, camps, retreat activities and life-changing interstate trips. Firbank’s sporting programs and coaches are some of the best Melbourne has to offer, with students often going on to achieve greatness at state, national and even international levels. With so many extracurricular programs on offer, Firbank students are well-prepared for higher education and employment after school.

At Firbank, the first-class IT systems and support allows boarders to have easy and quick communication with their families, who are welcome to visit at any time. The School’s facilities – such as gyms, sports grounds, wellbeing spaces, a pool and more – means boarders have plenty of activities and opportunities to learn outside of the classroom.
