There’s a buzz in the air as edVirtus brings some exciting opportunities for learning during lockdown—System Safety, Project Execution, Reliability Engineering, Aircraft Systems, Capability Management, Military Systems, Laser Safety and Communications Systems. edVirtus introduces Matt Squair with new System Safety courses in November. The System Safety for Managers and the System Safety for Safety Specialistscourses introduce system safety key concepts and practices that allow project and engineering managers to integrate system safety activities into an acquisition program and allow safety specialists to carry out system safety activities.

From his extensive experience as a senior project consultant to government and industry, Dr John Davies delivers a two-day Project Execution Strategy course in October that is dedicated to crafting effective Project Execution Strategies—there is nothing more rewarding than a project well executed! This course provides an overview of procurement law and how to effectively manage risk and opportunities in commercial agreements, providing perspectives from both the buy-side and sell-side, with strategies to assist in early industry engagement, tender and bid development, and effective negotiations.

In November, Dr Chris Jackson introduces an exciting new Reliability Engineering course Failure Mode, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) that prepares attendees to conduct amazing FMECAsoften the singular most important things for preventing production issues, manufacturing delays, budget blow outs, and unreliability. Then in December, Chris repeats his successful 40-hour Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM)course, the complete reliability engineering body of knowledge, comprising both the RAM Introductioncourse and the RAM Practitionerscourse.

Aircraft Systems are covered by courses in October and November.  Dr Ian Faulconbridge presents his internationally recognised Radar Fundamentals course, and his Avionic Principles course, an explanation of aircraft systems. Dr John Davies delivers an exciting new courseAir Weapons Integration that provides attendees with an understanding of how to integrate and certify air-launched weapons and other stores, including countermeasures.

For those working in Capability Management, Dr Shari Soutberg and Dr Mike Ryan present three courses specifically designed to understand the capability life cycle – an Introduction, the Program Management Level and the Project Management LevelDr Mike Ryan then presents his two-day Requirements Writing course once again in December.

In October, Dr Craig Benson and Dr Mike Ryan combine their expertise in Military Systems to deliver three days of Tactical Electronic Warfare focusing on both comms and non-comms EW. In December, Dr John Davies presents Introduction to Explosive Ordnance Systemsfor those requiring a greater knowledge of EO systems, including warheads, rocket motors, pyrotechnics, and propellants.

Dr Trevor Wheatly runs his Laser Safety courses in November. The Laser Safety Officers course and the Laser Safety Supervisorscourse meet the needs of Australian/International standards for a laser safety officer or a Defence Level 1 Laser Safety Officer (LSO1); and the needs of Australian/International standards for a Laser Safety Supervisor (LSS) or Defence Level 2 Laser Safety Officer (LSO2).

edVirtus covers Communications Systems with Dr Mike Ryan.
